Dear students or parents, I am Brian. I came from Taiwan, a place also speaks Chinese but writes traditional Chinese characters. Don't worry, I am also good at simplified Chinese characters. Before I came to US, I had been tutoring students for 6 years. I love helping students and finding the best strategies for them to learn. In 2010, I attended OSU summer program to learn how to teach Chinese (especially for non-native speakers). It is from there that I learned systematic ways to help students learn a new language quickly and naturally. After that, I became an adjunct lecturer in Lehigh University, PA for 2 years and taught 3 Chinese classes per semester. In addition to teach based on existing material, I also know how to design a new class for students. I was authorized to create brand new Chinese classes like Intensive Chinese Conversation, Chinese Short Stories, and Newspaper Reading in Chinese for advanced level students in Lehigh. I tried to put as many class activities as possible so students would think, hear, respond, and learn in more efficient way. I also like to put Chinese culture, popular topics in Chinese society, and business customs into classes. Overall, my students love my teaching style and I got 4.5/5.0 for course evaluation on average from students.
